The Catholic church in Untersiebenbrunn in Lower Austria [a small village which is about twenty kilometers east of Vienna] owned a large field which had been divided up among the individual farmers to be worked by them. These were regulated by an 1811 contract between representatives of the community and the priest. The farmers, however, carried out these chores with growing reluctance.
