The world still cries for meaning

are we still listening?

William F. Evans

pp. 291-301

In The Unheard Cry for Meaning Dr. Viktor Frankl defined logotherapy as "meaning centered psychotherapy," and "therapy through meaning." In our postmodern age, the world is still struggling, perhaps more than ever, with meaninglessness, hopelessness, and existential emptiness. Logotherapy, as lived and taught by Dr. Frankl, still stands firm as a viable alternative to reductionism, depersonalization, and this pervasive existential vacuum. We who honor the life and legacy of Dr. Frankl have the ability to offer meaning, a sense of direction, and hope to people who are calling out for help. The world still cries for meaning! Are we still listening? How will we respond? (Frankl VE. The unheard cry for meaning. Simon & Schuster, 1978; Recollections: An autobiography. Basic Books, 2000).
